I’m not surprised either, two people from this organisation, one of them being Mr Melton, frequently post items on the Yorkshire Wolds Railway Restoration Project forum. The tone of their comments is rude, condescending and to be honest downright catty. I wouldn’t want to visit the NYMR again after reading all this or be associated with the likes of people of that ilk.

Hi Ian,

No none still in service… but there is something that looks similar (a class 37) that also makes a pretty good noise

That’s a nice recording. Are any Deltics still in service?

Freight trains with markings for the English Welsh & Scottish Railway go past near the back of house at night, the engines look like the Deltic in the photo above. Real powerful engine noise off them.

Another superb recording Martin, I have some pictures of Deltic’s while in service and they are lovely to look at…BUT, of course you have to imagine the sound they make. Looking at Ron’s slideshow, at the same time as listening to your recording brings together the whole experience of `being there`. Thank you my friend for posting your wonderful sounds.

sadly I never heard (or saw) them in service

Buts its a fantastic exhilarating sound. Sadly the recording is so short due to noise pollution (planes, tractors and microlites!)

Oh yesssssss, that took me back to Finsbury park and wandering around the shed following my Uncle like a lost lamb when I was knee high to 3′9″ driving wheel. And then the at the + the low hum and the hushed thrash as they pulled away from platform 10………cracking recording however short. Thanks for posting

Good to know someone is listening – I guess audio recordings are not everyone’s cup of tea! I know some folk wonder why I just don’t Video stuff (because you get sound and video) but the truth is I spend just as much on my mics as video folk do on video – So I couldn’t afford to do video too!

will try and make sure i’m online more often… just been a difficult few months! But the weather is finally getting better so more opportunities to record!!

Martin, I cannot understand why you don’t get many comments on your excellent recordings. I for one really enjoy your work, along with a nice slideshow to boot! The Battlefield line is a very nice railway, with a good selection of loco’s…please keep posting your work Martin, as you seem to have been away for a long time.

Nice recording. But I have to wonder why not video. I mean if your there why not record sounds on a video camera – why just use sound?
