Class 70 Freightliner
I stumbled across this video of the new Class 70 that Freightliner are buying.
Ugly and noisy, just the way I like them!

I will still wait to see it in the flesh. I only wish it could have been built in the UK.

Yes i’m looking forward to seeing it. Though I saw in a magazine the cab-front has changed a lot… reminds me a bit of Bullied’s Leader.
And as you say… a great shame we don’t make this stuff any more!

Any kind of loco is welcome on the network I suppose, parts of it are like class 58’s. I would agree the cab front could do with a makeover, so I hope you are right Martin.
Have you heard anything regards the North Yorks Moors?

The front I saw isn’t much better than this one…. but if you like them ugly you’ll be happy.
NYMR – really need to get that letter off to them this week, was going to email them but thought it may get lost/ignored!

I think we can easily make locos in this country, just no-one wants to buy them. I’m sure Brush Traction could easily build locos. Unfortunately you will soon have CSRE fighting in the marketplace too, so it will be:
EMD (USA/Canada)
GE (USA)
CSRE (China)
to choose from. The only good thing is that CSRE might well build their production locos in the UK!!!
Apaarently Colas are in talks to try at least one of the demonstrators when they hit the rails.
